Executive Board Meeting
The next Executive Board meeting will be in September, the last Tuesday of the month at 7 a.m at the Hood River Charburger. By the time you receive this, the May meeting will have occurred. The normal dates for these meetings will remain the last Tuesday of the month.

Next Chapter Meeting
June 14, 2003 9:00 a.m - Meet at China Gorge Restaurant - Hood River, OR - June Tour - Plans are set to go to Rick Strachan's place on Fir Mountain. Rick has been doing some innovative wetland restoration work on his forested property. At this time the date we have settled on is June 14, 2003 at 0900. We'll meet at the parking lot across from the China Gorge restaurant. From there we can car pool up to Rick's place. Bring your own lunch. Rick plans to be done by noon and you can leave from Rick's place if you want or stay and have lunch in the woods.

This will be a joint meeting with the Mid Columbia Small Woodlands association so there will be landowners from Oregon or Washington.

Last Meeting - At the last meeting we discussed last years fire statistics with substitute speaker Larry Hoffman. There continues to be a wide mix of fire causes in the region on the Oregon side of the river.

OSAF Annual Meeting - I attended the meeting in Salem. Presentations were excellent. The OSAF web site will have the presentations posted soon. If you are interested check them out. The tour to Oregon Gardens and the Clint Betz ranch were excellent.

Future Annual Meetings - The OSAF executive committee is planning to have a joint meeting with the Washington and Inland Empire Society's in 2005 and a joint meeting with the Wildlife Society. The current state chair of the Wildlife Society was at the exec meeting to request this function in 2006. If you have an opinion on this call or email OSAF chair Bill Peterson with your thoughts.

2004 Annual Meeting - The next annual meeting with be hosted by the Siskiyou chapter and will be in Ashland. Dates have been set at May 5-7, 2004. Theme to be announced.

Policy Statements Expire - In addition, I attended the executive committee meeting. Paul Adams is updating several of the OSAF policy statements. I have copies of the four statements being updated. The Healthy Forests statement has taken the most amount of work. If you want a copy to review call me and I'll fax one to you.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Future Chapter Meeting - October 14, 2003 - Again we'll take the summer off from meetings for field season. Please plan on this date for our next meeting. I'll get back to you on location and time.

We've been having some major problems with meeting attendance. If you have input as to what is the best time, place, location or meeting topic please contact me or one of the officers.
