Executive Board Meeting
The next Executive Board meeting will be 7:00 AM Tuesday, March 25th at the Hood River Charburger. All members are invited to attend. Future meetings are April 29 and May 27, 2003, same time and place. If you have comments or suggestions and can't make the meeting contact one of the chapter officers below.

Next Chapter Meeting
March 11, 2002 6:00p.m - China Gorge Restaurant - Hood River, OR - How forest policy decisions are made in Hood River county. - Ken Galloway, Forest Manager and Dave Meriwether, Hood River County administrator will discuss the relationship between the board of commissioners and the process for county forest management policy and decision making. This is a different forum than decision making at the federal or state level.

Last Chapter Meeting - The members present at the meeting discussed various ways to beef up local educational efforts as a way to use the proceeds of the annual meeting. Specifically, to impact youth in the grade school level and present a balanced natural resources message. Dennis Carlson will be contacting the statewide Project Learning Tree coordinator to obtain a copy of that curriculum and attempt to circulate it in the Hood River school district via the district curriculum manager. We will keep you posted on this new item.

New Chair Elect - It is with great appreciation that Rick Strachan has taken on the duties of the chair elect. Rick is a director for Miami Corporation. Miami owns land in western Oregon and northeast Florida, but Rick lives near Hood River. He also did an outstanding job last year at heading up the Foresters Fund committee for the annual meeting. It was Rick's hard work and dedication that resulted in the raffle and fund raising being such a fantastic success. Thanks and welcome aboard, Rick.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Future Chapter Meeting - April 8, 2003 - Dinner at 6:00pm, at the China Gorge in Hood River, program immediately following. The program is in the works. We will let you know at the next meeting and in the next newsletter. In May we are working on getting an Oregon and Washington manager to discuss the fall out from state budget reductions and local fire protection programs. Stay tuned..
