Executive Board Meeting
The next Executive Board meeting will be 7:00 AM Tuesday, January 28th
at the Hood River Charburger. All members are invited to attend. Future
meetings are February 25 and March 25, 2003, same time and place. If you
have comments or suggestions and can't make the meeting contact one of
the chapter officers below.
Next Chapter Meeting
February 11, 2002 6:00p.m - China Gorge Restaurant - Hood River,
OR - Chapter Discussion - What to do with Annual Meeting Proceeds? -
Ole requested time to bring this discussion to the general membership.
A framework was set up in December to bring this discussion to you. It
is of vital importance that you come and bring your opinions to bear on
this important issue.
Last Chapter Meeting - Brain Bair from
the Gifford Pinchot National Forest presented an outstanding program on
stream rehabilitation on the tributaries to the Wind River. If any member
has a need or plans to do any stream rehabilitation work, Brian is an
excellent local source of information.
Leadership Conference - Ole and Larry
attended the Oregon and Washington state society leadership conference
held in Hood River. This is an outstanding opportunity to network with
leaders of other chapters in both Oregon and Washington. In addition,
Michael Goergen from the national office attended and discussed membership,
the national leadership and policy issues at the national level. We would
highly recommend any member attend this session regardless of position.
Moving on Creates a Vacancy - It is with mixed blessings the chapter
has lost Patrick Allen. His company has promoted him to a position in
Cathlamet, WA. Congratulations to him but that results in a loss to our
chapter. Ole has graciously volunteered to continue as chair through 2003.
I will continue as newsletter editor.

We are in need of members
to come forward and assist with the future of the chapter.
Electronic Newsletter - The chapter doesn't have the ability yet
to send the newsletter out this way yet. We would need all members email
address and everyone has not given their address to the national office.
The best we can do is post it on web sites. The state society requests
that chapter newsletters be forwarded to the Leslie Batten the OSAF web
master. I do this when I send the newsletter to the Northwest office.
The newsletter is posted on the state society page within a day or two
of me sending it to them. If this is a more convenient way to check out
the newsletter please do so. The location is: http://www.forestry.org
UPCOMING EVENTS
Future Chapter Meeting
- March 11, 2003 - Dinner at 6:00pm, at the Charburger in Hood River,
program immediately following. The program is in the works. We will let
you know at the next meeting and in the next newsletter.
Future Chapter Meetings - April 8, 2003 and May 13, 2003. OSAF
State society meeting May 8-10, 2003.
