Volume 12, No. 8 December - No Program Meeting Planned January 8th Meeting Jim White, Forester, US Forest Service Jim is a Forester working on the development and deployment of the Natural Resource Information System (NRIS) used by the Forest Service. NRIS is a series of modules that have been standardized through out the National Forest System. Jim will give us an overview of all NRIS modules. He will provide a more in depth presentation of the FS-VEG and Terra modules as well as how the Common Stand Exam and Polyveg fit into the system. Please note that this meeting is being held one hour earlier than normal to help fit the schedule of our speaker. Your newsletter editor (Richard Larson) has just accepted an assignment in Salmon Idaho working on the National Fire Plan. We are in need of a replacement. Forest Management Tour: We are still considering the possibility of a tour focusing on forest health and land management issues. This would be a tour open to the public in order to provide them with an understanding of the economic and environmental factors affecting current forest management practices. If you are interested in helping to arrange such a tour, please come to one of our next meetings to help us decide where and when we should have this tour. Finances: We have $931 in our Checking and Savings accounts. |
