Membership Meetings

We will be having membership meetings on Nov 16 and Dec 14. Details for these meetings have not been finalized in time for this mailing. The topic for the Dec meeting will be a forestry forum. This will be an opportunity for us to get to know more about what each of us are doing, what issues we are dealing with, our frustrations, and successes.

Chapter Officer Nominations

Officer elections are just around the corner. Chapter representatives will be contacting the membership for nominees and volunteers. We could use some new blood.

Notes from the Chair

In June the Chapter sponsored a student from Wind River Middle School in Carson, WA to attend the World Forestry Center summer camp held at the Magnus Tree Farm near Wilsonville. I attended the lunch on day 5 of the camp and met our camper, Jack Cushman. He is a great kid and really appreciated the opportunity to

attend. He would like to participate again in the future as a youth counselor. As you are aware, the SAF National Convention was held in September in Portland. The Oregon and Washington Societies who planned and hosted the convention did a great job and received many compliments from guests. I'm sure the beautiful weather had a lot to do with the success. Three Columbia Gorge Chapter members volunteered as security and tour guides. They were Jim McGrath, Richard Larsen, and John Forsberg.
