Part of our mission is to provide short-term relief while looking at long-term solutions.  HOPE offers short-term relief by funding and administering an emergency voucher program that provides temporary shelter, food or gasoline for people in short-term emergency situations.

Self-Help housing is a program created by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to help low-income families build modest homes in rural areas throughout the United States.  Each household must provide 65% of the labor needed to build their homes.  That translates to at least 30 hours a week for about 10 months.

     Apartments

HOPE provides much of the affordable housing in the Mid-Columbia region of Oregon and Washington. This affordable housing consists of 5 apartment complexes.  The four in Oregon are managed by an outside property management firm and one in Washington managed by a contracted individual.  HOPE's apartments currently house 12% of the city of Hood River's residents.
