The second purpose is to generate income for Girl Scout troops and our local Girl Scout Council. Proceeds from the cookie sale stay local and help Columbia River Girl Scout Council deliver quality Girl Scout Program. Your purchase helps the troops cover the costs of their pins, badges, program materials, and special activities. Cookie income helps to recruit, train, and support volunteers. It helps to maintain council properties ensuring they are safe. It also provides financial aid to ensure that Girl Scouting is available to all girls, no matter what their economic or geographic status.

The girls also earn individual Cookie Credits that can be redeemed to help pay for summer camp, for program events, and for Wider Opportunities. They can also be redeemed at The Girl Scout Store.
