The 22nd Annual GHS Spring Awards Luncheon was May 13th, 2006, at the M&M Cafe in historic downtown Gresham. Award recipients were:
Pioneer Business - Gresham Inn, Ann Giesler (located in the Metzger building) Pioneer of the Year - Minnie Gantenbein, 93 years old, daughter of John and Minnie Rooker, homesteaders in Sandy, Oregon A big Thank You to Gresham Postmaster Rich Weber, Mike Hill, Katie Harman, Matt at Leamy Printing, the Webfooters Post Card Club, and all of our volunteers who helped make the 100 year anniversary postal cancellation a huge success. A big Thank You to Doug at Gresham Locksmith Corporation for the services and keys he provided free for the GHS. A big Thank You to Steve Kenney for helping coordinate the special stamp cancellation and for presentation on historic postcards at the September general meeting. A big Thank You to all of Our Volunteers who helped with the dedication of Linnemann Station. Congratulations to Mary Blevins, the winner in the raffle of the Victorian-style crazy quilt donated by Sherry Beck. A big Thank You to GHS member and former 'Flying Tiger' Red Wood for sharing the history of Gresham and his life story at the May 22nd Brown Bag History Forum. A big Thank You to Our Volunteers who made the Spring 2004 Rummage Sale possible. A big Thank You to Eric at the Lake Oswego Rental Service Corporation for donating the use of the scissor lift. A big Thank You to Gesham Sanitary Service for their ongoing donation. A big Thank You to the J. Frank Schmidt Charitable Foundation for their generous contribution. A big Thank You to Tim & Judy Simon and Clyde & Melinda Rusaw for their superior musical performance at our December 2003 general meeting. A big Thank You to Craig Lester at Gorge Networks for hosting our website. A big Thank You to Carroll Hermanson for supplying and dedicating a memorial rose bush during our Annual President's Picnic. This beautiful rose is in memory of his late wife (and tireless museum volunteer), Ellie. A big Thank You to the family of Frieda Akse for their donation of the storage container. A big Thank You to the Children of the American Revolution for their continued interest in the Colorado Blue Spruce tree they donated on October 10, 1987.
