Zwynen House 230 NW Garfield Ave. White Salmon, Washington Original Owner: Derrick & Angel Zwynen Current Owner: Stewart Fletcher & Cathy Flick This cozy home built in 1929 has changed very little since its construction, and never drastically remodeled to fit the styles of succeeding decades! The original Art Deco light fixtures in the entryway, living and dining rooms remain. The decorative tiles in the entryway and on the fireplace were purchased from Europe by the Zwynens. First floor rooms are oak and the kitchen, Douglas Fir. The house siding is raked cedar. All main floor ceilings have remained high, unlike the lowered ceilings of similar neighboring homes, same circa. According to information gleaned by the present owners, Mr. Zwynen owned the drugstore, operated its soda fountain, and built the Hood View Hotel (now Inn of the White Salmon.) The present owners purchased the home in 1998.
