(Inn of the White Salmon) 172 W. Jewett Blvd. - PO Box 1549 White Salmon, Washington Original Owner: Derrick (Jerry) Zwynen Current Owners: Roger and Janet Holen The Hood View Hotel and Apartments, opened for business in 1937. The building was constructed at a cost of $20,000 by the owner Mr. Zwynen, business man of White Salmon. Originally the hotel was a two-story brick building, with a one-story East and West wing, each having two apartments. For years the hotel was home to the newly-weds and schoolteachers, and provided lodging to railroad workers and traveling salesmen. In 1941, a second story was added to the west wing. In the ’60s a second story was added to the East wing. Rooms were combined to create larger rooms with baths. Today there are 4 guest rooms on the main floor and 12 on the second. All have private baths. In the early ’80s, the owner began converting the interior décor to European style with antiques, and renamed the hotel the Inn of the White Salmon. Breakfasts have received rave revues...also open to the public by reservation. You’ll love the parlor and the all-season enclosed porch… |
