Columbia Gorge Genealogical Society

The purpose of our Society is to :

  1. Inform people of the value of and need for family and local history for posterity, and to preserve and publish area records.
  2. Provide instruction and assistance to genealogists with emphasis on those with beginner and intermediate research and documentation skills.
  3. Add to the genealogical section of The Dalles-Wasco County Library.
  4. Receive, hold, administer and invest monies, dues, gifts, sales and property for the benefit of the Society and its educational purposes.

The Columbia Gorge Genealogical Society meets the second Saturday of the month, September through June in The Dalles, Oregon. Dues are $15.00 a year for individual and/or family. Our membership calendar is January - December. Members receive the quarterly Tales & Trails newsletter. In addition, they receive Tales & Trails E-zine with update information.

The board meeting is 10:00 a.m., a No Host Lunch at 12:00 p.m. and the main Society meeting starts promptly at 1:00 p.m.

All meetings are held at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center, 5000 Discovery Drive, The Dalles, OR.

NEWS RELEASE:
NEW RESOURCE AVAILABLE FOR LOCAL RESEARCHERS The Pioneer Cemetery The Dalles, Oregon 1860-, Compiled and assembled by Earline Wasser. Published by Columbia Gorge Genealogical Society, 2007.

In this volume, compiled and assembled by Earline Wasser, a century of research by Lulu Crandall, George Brown, Daphne Hon Ramsey, Lottie LeGett Gurley, Cheryl Gates, Anita Drake, and Lorna Elliott, is combined with many hours of research in the vaults at The Dalles Chronicle, to provide a definitive (as we know it at this point) and highly annotated list of burials in this cemetery located just below Columbia Gorge Community College on East Scenic Drive in The Dalles. All profits go toward the purchase of a granite monument listing all burials in the cemetery.

The Pioneer Cemetery, The Dalles Oregon, 1860- sells for $20.00 a copy plus postage and handling.
