Our
Mission
The Arc of the Mid-Columbia works to enhance the dignity, expand the
opportunities, and protect the rights of children and adults with developmental
disabilities and their families.
Organizational Status
The Arc of the Mid-Columbia incorporated
in February 2002 and thereafter became affiliated with The Arc of Oregon
and The Arc of the United States. We are recognized by the IRS as a private
not for profit organization.
Our Arc chapter started with family
members, self-advocates and professionals who were motivated by the need
for families and self-advocates to get together, share information and
support to each other. Our region includes Hood River, Wasco, Sherman
and Gilliam Counties. We invite and welcome members and visitors from
our nearby Counties in the State of Washington as well. We are governed
by a Constitution and By-Laws.
Membership
All those who support our mission are invited to join our chapter. Membership
in the Arc of the Mid-Columbia also includes membership in The Arc of
Oregon and the Arc of the United States. The Arc is for individuals with
developmental disabilities, family members, friends, neighbors, professionals
and other interested members of the public.
Financing
We rely on membership fees, donations and fund-raising projects for
our chapter expenses. We do not have paid staff. We need and appreciate
your support.
